Question:
|
Can I put hot
pots on my granite countertops? |
Answer:
|
NO. Although
these materials are very heat resistant, we
don't recommend placing hot pots on them.
The sealer used for granite can burn out of
your stone, leaving it more prone to
staining. |

Question:
|
What is Avanza Natural
Quartz? |
Answer:
|
A natural
quartz surfacing material from US Stone Inc.
Avanza is made from quarried quartz (natures
4th hardest material) which is reshaped with
high-performance polymers, under extreme
heat and pressure. Unlike ordinary quarried
stone, Avanza natural quartz is nonporous
and remains resistant to chemicals,
scratches and stains without needing
periodic resealing or polishing. |
| |
|
Question:
|
What makes
Avanza so stain-resistant? |
Answer:
|
Natural Quartz,
the main component of Avanza, is naturally
nonporous. By bonding quartz with
high-performance polymers, Avanza is far
more stain-resistant than ordinary stone.
Spills such as tea, soda, wine, vinegar,
lemon juice and fruits and vegetables are no
match for Avanza. |
| |
|
Question:
|
What makes
Avanza so scratch-resistant? |
Answer:
|
Avanza is 93%
premium quality natural quartz, one of
natures hardest materials. Only topaz,
sapphire and diamond surpass natural quartz
in hardness.
|
|
|
|
Question:
|
Why are the
consistent colors of Avanza an advantage? |
Answer:
|
The color of
ordinary stone can vary greatly between
pieces and unattractive veining or blots can
mar the appearance. Hence, you really need
to visit the quarry and hand-select your
preferred slabs. With Avanza, the colors and
textures are far more uniform and
consistent, so you can confidently select
your countertop from our sample chips. |
| |
|
Question:
|
How Do I care
for an Avanza top? |
Answer:
|
To clean Avanza
, a damp cloth is usually all you need. To
clean up sticky spots and spills a little
liquid dish soap or Formula 409 can help. |

Question:
|
Can Zodiaq be
used in food preparation areas? |
Answer:
|
DuPont Zodiaq®
quartz surfaces can be used anywhere in the
kitchen, or wherever food is prepared. |
| |
|
Question:
|
What care and
maintenance does Zodiaq® require? |
Answer:
|
DuPont Zodiaq®
quartz surfaces are very easy to maintain
because they are durable, nonporous and
chemical-resistant. They require no sealants
or waxes to retain their lustrous gloss and
ultra-smooth surface. Routine cleaning may
be done with a damp cloth or paper towel
and, if necessary, a small amount of
non-bleach, nonabrasive cleanser. For more
information on caring for Zodiaq® quartz
surfaces, please visit the Care and
Maintenance section of this Web site. |
| |
|
Question:
|
How well does
Zodiaq® withstand heat, scratches and
stains? |
Answer:
|
Zodiaq® is
resistant to heat, scratching and staining,
but is not heat-, scratch- or stain-proof.
Therefore, the use of trivets or hot pads is
recommended under hot pots, skillets or
roasting pans. A cutting board should be
used when slicing or chopping, especially
with a serrated knife. Spills should be
wiped up quickly; a nonabrasive cleaning pad
and a non-bleach cleaning product may be
used to remove stubborn or dried spills. |
| |
|
Question:
|
Is there
a warranty for DuPont Zodiaq® quartz
surfaces? |
Answer:
|
Yes. For
residential applications, there is a
transferable 10-year, limited installed
product warranty against defects during
manufacture. |

Question:
|
Why is Corian a good value? |
Answer:
|
The beauty, durability, and
long-term performance of Corian® make it an
exceptional value for any environment.
Corian® is solid throughout and can
withstand most of the challenges of daily
use. It can be easily refinished to its
original appearance if the surface is
nicked, cut, marred or scratched. As a
result, Corian® will retain its original
beauty for many years to come and
replacement may be required less frequently. |
| |
|
Question:
|
Can I place a hot pot
directly on Corian®? |
Answer:
|
We do not recommend placing
a hot pot directly on Corian®. Although
Corian® remains stable and undamaged in
temperatures up to 212ºF (100ºC), high heat
or flame will damage Corian®. In most cases
this can be repaired. To protect your Corian®
from heat damage, always use a hot pad or a
trivet with rubber feet when using hot pots
or heat-generating appliances like frying
pans or electric cooking pots. |

gloss and semi-gloss finishes, contact your

Question:

How long will Earthstone™
Solid Surface wear and last? |
Answer:
|
With proper care and
maintenance, Earthstone™ Solid Surface will
provide many years of enjoyment and use
without losing any of its original beauty or
color. It is backed by a ten year limited
warranty when installed by a Certified
Wilsonart Solid Surface Fabricator. See Care
& Maintenance for complete care information |
| |
|
Question:
|
Can Earthstone™ Solid
Surface be adhered to other materials? |
Answer:
|
Earthstone™ Solid Surface
can be successfully adhered to acrylic
sheets for decorative accents or inlays.
Earthstone™ Solid Surface should not be
adhered to solid wood strips or inlays.
Because of the hygroscopic properties of
wood, it can absorb water, which would cause
unequal expansion and possible delamination
of the bonds. A wood or colored inlay can be
achieved by using wood veneer or Wilsonart
Laminate set into a routed groove.
Techniques are also available to inlay metal
strips. |
